Working with Your Lender

Your lender will play the biggest role in your refinance, and you’ll want to do your homework and be comfortable with who you select to manage your new loan.

You can refinance through your existing lender or a new lender.  What’s most important is that the lender you choose is trustworthy and offers competitive rates and terms.  The best way to determine if you’re being offered competitive terms is to shop around and compare.

It’s recommended that you visit 3 – 5 different lenders and compare their rates and terms.  With the information you’ll gain by shopping around, the more confident you’ll be with your decision.  Learn more about the costs of refinancing .

Once you select your lender, you’ll work with them in the same way you worked with them in your original purchase.  The entire process – from running your Uniform Residential Loan Application to conducting an appraisal to closing should take between 30 and 45 days.
